A Giveaway, tshirts, muffins, cars and awards...

Happy Autumn everyone!

Remember a while a go when I posted about my food related tshirts? I really can not resist buying a new one whenever I see it. Today I found this cute one with an Afro Muffin! Cute isn't it? So I got us one!

That's right! You read it correctly, I got us one each! Since a lot of you liked my tshirts so much and some even asked me where I got them, when I saw this new one I decided to get one for me and one for you! The tshirt is black with that cute moustachy muffin and it's a size medium.

Even if you don't think you'll use the tshirt yourself, you can allways get it for your daughter, friend, mom, sister, niece... And if you're a guy you can try to win it for your girlfriend or use it to go to the gym. Yes, I'm talking to you!

So to enter the Giveaway just leave me a comment saying what would make the perfect Afro Muffin! I want flavours, add-ins, whatever you can think of that would celebrate Africa in a muffin form!

Also, after my last post, a lot of you asked for pictures of the Lightning McQueen cake. Here it is! At this point he was still smiling, not knowing he was about to be eaten. Oh poor McQueen!...

Lastly, still in the Emmys spirit I would like to thank some awards:

  • Thank you Tamy for the Blog de Ouro award!
  • Thank you Reeni for the I love you this much award!
  • Thank you Blond Duck for the Kick ass blogger award! And Happy Birthday!

I will pass this awards to everyone who doesn't win the tshirt, so everybody wins something!

You have until next monday (29th Sep) to tell me about the perfect Afro Muffin! The Giveaway winner will be chosen randomly and announced on tuesday 30th.

Have fun!

That tee shirt is hilarious! Congrats on the recognitions. It's always nice to know you're appreciated, isn't it? Did everyone love the cake?

What a great cake!

I agree with Gloria. I'd need it to be a chocolate, chunk, coffee muffin.

I would make a lemon, miracle fruit muffin, because everyone knows miracle fruit is grown in West Africa. I would make a really sour lemon muffin and it would have no sugar, but before eating the muffins, I would eat a miracle berry tablet. You see, the miracle berry takes the sour taste out of things if you consume some of it before eating sour things. And then, if it didn't really work, my hair would probably turn afro from the sour muffin! ;)
(Seriously, do you think I knew all this? Of course not, I looked online for flavors of Africa. He he.) Am I in the drawing now? ;) Pick me, pick me.....fingers crossed!

One of the native root veggies that is common to the African cuisine is the sweet potato! When baked in breads and cake it is so moist!!! I'd flavor the cake with cinnamon and ginger. I think I'd frost it with a lemon and ginger flavored cream cheese frosting.

Lemons, cinnamon and ginger are spices used in much of African cooking.

I may have to go make that myself!

Please enter me in the contest!!!

I would make an Amarula cupcake with dark chocolate frosting and sprinkled with a little toasted coconut.
That is a very cool shirt - If I win, my 19 year old daughter will recieve it and love it.
(if you have not had Amarula, it is a liquer like Bailey's made from an African tree fruit - so good!)

Just wanted to tell you I love your blog! Not sure how I found you, but your in the fav. and I have to check it daily! ;-)
Thanks for sharing.

Haha you were talking to me? I think an afro muffin would totally make me stronger, I would inherit Shaft's super strength or something :)

If I was an Afro muffin, what would I have? I don't know a thing about Africa, so I'm going with my gut on this one.... A BLACK RAINFOREST cupcake. Get it? Oh man I'm terrible. I guess that means a dark chocolate cupcake with dried cherries, some dark chocolate chocolate pieces, and a nice white chocolate whipped cream top.

And... I'm spent

Thanks so much for the happy returns! I love your new look! Soo cute! And the t-shirt is great.

Ivy said...

Cute Shirt!
I'll try to win, sure.
Thanks! It's so nice of you.

Well I think Africa is a very tropical place and has many tropical fruit available to them.

So what about a ...
Mango flavored cupcake filled with a passionfruit curd. Topped with a swirl of coconut infused whipped cream frosting. Garnished with thin slices of plantain flambe- sprinkled with some coarse cane sugar and toasted coconut pieces. Then a passion fruit flower placed on the very top. Passionfruit flowers are so pretty. :)

Lisa said...

You are so nice!

How about a sweet potato muffin spiced with ginger and cardamom?

Ben said...

Hmmm, that is difficult. I would go for chocolate, but that would be to simple. So what about an espresso muffin with a chocolate chantilly cream on top and two M&Ms as eyes? LOL that sounds like a surreal muffin.

Tu blog es... rosita! Demasiado rosita diria yo :-p

Hugs!

The cake looks great! I am a sucker for blueberry muffins so that would be the best afro muffin for me. That shirt is soooo cute!!!

Vicki said...

I say chocolate with berbere spice. Afro-licious.

Prudy said...

Ok, how about a chocolate muffin with reese puffs cereal poked onto the frosting? Love the cars cake!

Cakebrain said...

An Afro Muffin. Hm. I'd start with a dark chocolate cupcake and fill it with a coffee bean rum-spiked bittersweet chocolate ganache. Then the topper--because it HAS to have an Afro: chocolate marshmallow piped on top of the cupcake and browned with a torch.

Oh! I love the shirt! Enter me, and I have a US shipping address so you won't have to pay International!

Lore said...

Your McQueen cake turned out really cute just like the T-shirt :)
I think the perfect Afro Muffin should be a savoury one, actually I'd try to recreate the famous Jollof rice in the form of a muffin (a little bit of shredded chicken, rice, a lot of veggies and as for flavourings: thyme, chilli, ginger, bay leaves, cinnamon, curry powder...)

Dhanggit said...

i want that t-shirt!! I'll do everything you want just make me win that shirt hehehe :-) It's so cute!! Congrats on your recognition!

maybe you can put some, choco, ginger and cinnamon on your african muffins :-)

En cuanto a los Afron Muffins, creo que deberían tener chocolate, café y vainilla. mezcla portentosa!!

Oh what a yummy post CC...& what a lovely new look to your blog...LOL, the t-shirts hilarious. I love it!! Hmmmmmmm...even thought the RIG skips me 'purposely', I think dark chocolate with some fresh ground coffee beans, & some freshly ground black pepper should go in there. Vanilla bean buttercream on top...what fun!! Thanks for letting my thoughts flow!! Deeba

Since I have a mini "muffin top" or (should I call it a cupcake top) when I wear the wrong pants, I can totally relate to Mr. Moustache. I DO NOT have one of those or an afro although in my youth I did have some pretty big 80's hair.

Nazarina A said...

Love your post, how original and the t-shirts hilarious!! Congrats on the awards!
Has to be chocolate with a truffle surprise or a creamy center. For the afro , maybe some candy floss dusted with Dutch cocoa?

Dawn said...

Muffin Top! I love it. I would totally wear this.
Have to be some coffee somewhere in that muffin.
(love your comments btw on my blog...you rock chicklet!)

Jenny said...

That T-shirt is seriously awesome. Picky Me!! Ok, maybe I'll be the lucky number.

The perfect Afro Muffin in my book would be: Caramelized bananas, toasted pecans, and a nice thick brown sugar strudel topping. Yahhhhh!

Reeni said...

Ths shirt is so cute and I love your new look! How about muffins with dyed cotton candy on top to look like the muffin on the shirt? That's my idea and I'm sticking to it!! You deserve all of those awards and more!!!

Lina said...

Yeay! pick me! I love that shirt! hehe. Im also very impressed with your "Cars" cake. Too cute!
Anyways... what would make the perfect Afro Muffin?
The main item on any Kenyan's diet is maize or corn, so I would make it a corn and bacon African flavor muffin.

Vera said...

Rita, the T-shirt is hilarious!
And the cake looks absolutely amazing! Any boy in the age of 2 to 14 would trade his soul for this. Perfect!
Congratulations on the awards!

CECIL said...

That's just the cutest cake!! I have something for you in my blog food-craze.blogspot.com. :D

Emiline said...

Hey! I want that shirt. If I win it, I will model it for you.
And I like afros. They're cool.

So. What would I add. Hmmmmmmmm.

I would incorporate dark chocolate chips and vanilla bean seeds into the muffin. Then I would place a chocolate covered coffee bean on top of each muffin, before they baked.

Dee said...

Lol, great Tshirt!
Congrats on the awards, too CC.

Noor said...

Cute shirt and I would say that I would like to win it ahh I love cupcake anything, lol. Come check my cupcake give away as well, its SO YOU, lol..

I think a nice coffee-cardamom combo would be good, both natural things from Africa and an amazing combo dont you think?

Minha querida amiga, um muffin africano pode sempre ser salgado, verdade? Diria eu que uma pitada de ras-el-hanout, meia dúzia de passas e umas amêndoas à mistura e fica perfeito Moroccan muffin! Marrocos conta? :-p

Great t-shirt, it should be with dark cacao, african coffee beans and dark chocolate chunks and you can put dark coloured cotton candy on top to make it looks like the muffin on t-shirt :)

morgana said...

Jajajajaja. Cómo me gusta leer tus posts....

Mmmm. Veamos...

Un besazo afroamericano de café y cacao.

how cute is that shirt?! I love it! The best muffin ever...it would be a toss up between chocolate chocolate chip with oreao cream cheese frosting, or lemon with lemon frosting, or I even had a cute little cake the other day that was white chocolate raspberry and it was amazing! So, I'm not very good at decisions. I'll have to try all of them though!

Maggie said...

I didn't want to miss a chance to win the shirt. I think mocha base for the muffin is the way to go but how about a peanut butter flavored crumb topping?

pietra said...

Carrot Top of course, with sweet potato!
