I have almost 4 kg (8 lb) of gorgeous figs, courtesy of the fig tree down the road (they accidentaly fell into 2 bags I had with me)... So I'm going to have some Fig Fun!
During next week, everyday there will be a recipe using figs. Be prepared for some serious fig overdose!
But before I start biting into those figs I'll take this opportunity to thank 2 yummy friends that recently gave me nice blog awards. Thank you girls!
- Yummy Food gave me the Wylde Woman Award
- Lina from My Life is Yummy gave me not one but two awards: The Best Blog Darts Award and the Beautiful Site Award
As I'm feeling generous today I'll pass the 3 awards to all my Daring Bakers friends!
Join me in the Fig Fun Week, give me fig ideas, send me your fig recipes, let's make this the "figiest" week of all! If you have made recipes using fresh figs recently or you're planning to use them during next week, just shoot me an email or leave a comment if you want, with a link to your recipe so by the end of the week we can have a big collection of fig recipes! So what do you say, let's have some fun? Some Fig Fun?

I'm jealous! I wish I had a fig tree.
Can't wait for fig week. I'm trying to think of a good recipe.
I always love figs with Prosciutto, or blue cheese, or honey...
Cookies would be good.
You could make a jam.
A cake with walnuts?
Ummmm...
The sad thing is the only Fig thing I have ever had is Fig Newton cookies. Do those even count as a fig product???!!!LOL
I/ve just discovered figs this year and love them, although I've only made two recipes with figs:

I don't have a fig tree available, and there are no figs available locally, so I'll have to wait to try more recipes; but I'm eager to see what you come up with. Thanks so much for your creative ideas -- what a great blog!
I am so there! I love fresh figs!
Recently I made some ricotta-lemon ice cream, which I will be posting soon - it was great with fresh figs sliced on top! :)
Here are some of my other recipes:

I wish I had a fig tree near by. I adore figs but I have yet to find and decent figs in the supermarkets or the farmer's market here. Very upsetting. I can not wait for fig week! Congrats on your awards. Well deserved. :)
OOh i'm excited! I LOVE figs. I like them fresh and sliced with goat cheese and honey. Mmmmm
Hmmm yummy - I love figs with goat cheese and WINE. I am excited to see what you come up with.
Oh you lucky thing, you! My neighbour has a lovely fig tree too, but the figs don't look ready yet. I love ripe, green, fresh figs the best. I never think to cook with them. However, perhaps I could eat some grilled with rum, cardamom and a sprinkle of brown sugar served hot over some ice cream...
I've never tried or used figs (although I used to love Fig Newtons).
Lucky you... sounds fig-tastic! Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Yum, figs! They are hard to come by here. But I did post chocolate covered figs a while ago. No recipe required...just figs dipped in milk chocolate and set to cool on wax paper.
I love using figs! I just made a fig and gorgonzola little pizza that was heaven sent. I love them. Can't wait to see your Figgy post!
I can't wait to see what you come up with. That's so cool they fell into your bag! Ha!
¡¡ Maldición !! Nunca he hecho nada con higos...
I'm really looking forward to fig fun week. The only thing is, I have a bunch of dried figs sitting in the fridge so it'd be great if I could find a lovely recipe that works with them. HINT!
Que tal un chutney de higos??? Tengo que buscar la r3ceta pero te la paso en cuanto la tenga.
a veces, de aperitivo, suelo poner una rebanada de pan tostado con jamón serrano, higos y lascas de queso parmesano....sublime!!!

I love sweet treats that come in a package and these look really good! Wish I had some ideas for figs but since we can't find them fresh here, we just kind of nibble on dry figs.
Emiline- I think I'll have to make a jam yes, there's no way we can eat them all!
Leslie- Really? I though they were much more comun...
Judy- Thank you so much for your links! Your recipes look great!
Jenn- You really are a fig lover! Glad you don't live close or you'd leave the poor fig tree without figs for me! Thanks for the links to you wonderful recipes!

Jenny- I remember your delicious pizza! Good to know you got a great deal with the cinnamon chips!
Cathy- I also thought it was so nice of them, they clearly wanted to come home with me!
Morgana- Jejeje! A ver si hay suerte, no? Yo también me comia muchos de la higuera de mis tios, pero estos no los puedo comer todos, asi que hay que inventar algo para gastarlos!
Dee- I also love dried figs! I usually eat them just with walnuts, it's one of my favourite things to eat! I'm actually drying some of these.
Ana- Un chutney me parece una idea deliciosa!
Lore- That's really bad you are not able to enjoy them fresh, they're really different from dry ones... But I also love dry!
