Cake pans and a Giveaway!

A while ago, Mariana tagged me in a meme, but between my vacation and eating potatoes with chocolate I never got arround to do it. The meme was to name and post a picture of my 10 favourite foods. Well, it's impossible to name just 10! I simply can't choose, so instead I'm going to share with you my 10 favourite cake pans.

Starting with this one that makes a cute cake shaped like a gigantic chocolate bar! This pan came with a magazine I bought and I never saw them selling anywhere, so I guess I was lucky! Isn't it cool?

I love my springform pans, I have beside these ones a few more normal round ones. I really like square cakes, they're much easier to cut. I like to make square cheesecakes or in heart shape as well. The round one is 5 inches (12.5 cm), so it's pretty good when I do half recipes. I've used it to do this Filbert cake. The ring mold is not technically a cake pan, but it was a present from a dear friend and it's the best thing to make mousse based cakes.

The first one is my newest pan, it's a half ball, that I've used to do this world cake for my cousin who's going to Australia! The moon and the shell make sweet looking cakes and the last one is a miniature tube pan, perfect to make 1/4 portions of recipes .

This is probably the strangest one of my huge collection. It's a tube pan to bake the cake on the stove top. This was my best friend when my oven was broken, I specially loved looking at the little window on top to see the cake rise! I don't use it anymore but I just love to have it!

So after the cakes are baked, the best thing to have is a CAKE LIFTER.

This is the GIVEAWAY part! I have 2 of these cake lifters that are a great help when decorating cakes. The holes are great for when pooring an icing over a cake and also double as a stencil when decorating with icing sugar or cocoa powder. And of course the little handle is very handy to transfer cakes to their serving plates.

I'll randomly pick 2 winners, so if you'd like to lift your cakes, just leave a comment until August 15th (next friday). Tell me what's your favourite cake pan!

And speaking of giveaways...

This is the great book I received from a Zen Chef's giveaway. Merci Zen! I've allready used it to make Roasted Bananas with Coconut Syrup to thank you, but since you never came I had to eat them all by myself. They were really good!

Also thank you Adam, Noor, Dawn and Shelby for the Brillante Weblog award! You are great! I'll pass it to 2 talented Spanish girls: Morgana and Cookemila!

Now don't forget to check next week to see if you won the Cake Lifter. Good Luck!

I'm sending you a picture (by email) of my favorite cake pan, my husband just got it for me on a trip to LA where he wander around Disney stores and found a Lego store. The pan is for 6 cupcake size Legos. It's cute and I can't wait to try it. It can also be used as a Jello mold.

I don't have such a great collection like you do! I love the pan that makes it look like a giant candy bar. I've never seen that one.

My favorite (and only fancy pan) is a Nordic Ware Daisy Pan. It produces a lovely size cake and I frost some of the cake. I get visitors to frost the flowers when I am in a rush.

I also have the regular rounds for layer cake and I don't have a lift. I actually have never seen a life although I know what it does and would love to use it with powdered sugar! This is a great giveaway.

I have a 'pull apart' silicone hershey's kiss pan that I love to make cakes in! Makes a cake in the shape of a Kiss but it's really comprised of lots of tiny cupcake sized kisses. Brilliant!

I really like the large "chocolate bar" shaped pan, but the one I really love is the stove top tube pan. That is just awesome.

Wow- I want to steal your cake pan collection- I have never even seen some of those. I am soo jealous!!!!

Wow! I love your cake pans! I too have a bit of a collection. Among my favourites are the Petit Fours cake pan from Williams Sonoma (by NordicWare) which turns out cute little flower shapes. I also love my trusty chiffon tube as it's my favourite type of cake. The silicone cannele pan I bought recently though looks so promising...

Cookie, you have 10 FAVORITE cake pans? Does that mean some didn't make the cut? I don't think I have 10 of anything... maybe 10 dollars... wait... nope.

No seriously, that is all very, very, cool and they all give a cake a certain personality. The cake lifter looks like a great invention, and I like how it's a multi-tasker. Guys have problems with that :)

Oh man I love that moon! So sweet!

I love the lifter too! I don't have one!

CC,

Congratulations on the blog award! I am lost in the cake pan arena so I am taking notes and bookmarking this.

I love your seashell pan. My favorite is a newer acquisition, my6-inch Wilton spring form pan. I love the small sized cakes it makes.

After DB turned me on to L'Opera cake, I would have to say that the 11 x 17 (jelly roll) pan is my fav. But really you can cut out miniatures in it as well. I think it is very versatile.

That cake pan that you make on top of the stove. I saw that at a garage sale. Was tempted to buy it but didnt. Have you ever used it?

Carlee Hoopes said...

Well, anything that makes my food look like a giant candy bar will win my heart! So, my favorite pan is the candy bar pan!

My fav cake pan is my Wilton Wonder Mold in whick I used to make my daughter Sleeping Beauty Birthday CAke! What a monster that was!

morgana said...

Gracias, gracias, gracias, gracias...

OOH, ooh! Pick me! Love your pans, especially the chocolate bar one. I don't have a lot due to my storage space (and I don't bake too often) but my favorite one is my round springform.

I clearly need more cake pans. I guess my fave is one that shaped the cake like a sunflower. I don't really use it much but it's awfully cute!

I am so going cake tin shopping! Right after I 'accidently' show your post to my husband, heheh :) It's almost impossible to choose a favourite, but I love LOVE the chocolate bar cake tin. Oh, did you mean from my collection?

Let's see - I have 1 springform, 1 regular round caketin and a muffin tray *sob* so I love them all.

So, how many cake tins do you have in total anyway? (I'm also going to accidently let my husband take a look at your answer.)

My favorite cake pan is a really old bundt pan that I inherited when it was left in the house I bought. It has a flower shape to it. I'd always wanted a bundt pan, and was so excited when I discovered it in the bottom drawer of the stove!

I don't have any fancy pants pans yet, but I'd love to get some 4" or 5" springform pans, those minis everyone made of the filbert gateau were just too cute! I do have a race car pan that i used to make my kids birthday cakes last year, that was kinda fun. :)

Maria said...

I am jealous of all of your pans! So fun! I use my 8 inch square pan a lot...but I love my flower petit four pan from WS. It is a fun one!

Hannah said...

Wow, that is one awesome collection you have! Although mine is fairly extensive, it's really just basic shapes and sizes... I don't buy very elaborate pans because I want others to be able to replicate my recipes without needing specialty bakeware. However, my favorite is probably my heart-shaped muffin pan; Those things never go out of style! ;)

Satisfying my Sweet Tooth said...

I don't have many cake pans yet, but I really do like my pampered chef stoneware bundt cake pan. I can do SO much with it! I can't wait to build up my collection though.

Deborah said...

You know, I must be pretty boring with my cake pans - I don't have any fun ones like yours!! Although I do like my mini bundt pans, but everything is better in mini!

Hendria said...

I just bought a cake pan ...it is like a spingform...but the bottom pushes out the top...so it is smooth on the side..I used it to make the blueberry cheese cake...and you can use the ring on a cookie sheet to bake a cake...

all your pans look amazing... :)

Jaime said...

wow, how cool! i love the moon cake pan!

My favorite cake pan is a heart shape for making cakes with lots of love!!

Da Bee's Knees said...

I am in awe of your collection of bakeware!

That cake lifter looks nifty, too!

MsC said...

Ok, I LOVE that chocolate bar pan. I can picture a dark fudgy cake with a powdered sugar sprinkle...yummy!!

And that stove-top tube pan is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

I have amassed quite a collection of pans myself. I LOVE cake pans, haha! Take up too much room though. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say my good ole 9" cake pans. I invested in good ones--nice and solid. When my mom saw them, she was all "oooh ahhh!". Growing up, I always remember her pans were discolored and not so pretty. So she was doubly impressed with these ones!

Natashya said...

You are a girl after my own heart. I love, love, love cake pans. Probably more than the cake. I don't have any of the ones you have but do have some Nordicware that makes me blissfully happy to play with.
I especially like the moon one in your collection.
The cake lifter is like none I've ever seen, what a great give-away!

I'm jealous of all of your wonderful pans... wow, it's hard to pick a favorite. I had no idea they made different shapes of spring-form pan.

I guess I'll go with the moon pan as my favorite... it's so unusual, plus you could use the shape for other interesting creations.
